REDUCE ADDICTION SYMPTOMS LASER FAST !

Acupuncture has been around for over 5,000 years. Within the field of addiction it has been used for well over 30 years. In the last 10 years or so, laser acupuncture has been gaining popularity in North America for quitting smoking (smoking cessation) and nicotine withdrawal.

Laser therapy for addiction is the application of non-invasive and pain-free low intensity laser to acupuncture points in the body and ear (auricular therapy) for the purpose of helping people cope better with withdrawal and detoxification symptoms from various drugs and addictive behaviours, beyond nicotine.

Specializing In Laser Acupuncture

No acupuncture needles, only gentle laser light.

No needles pierce the skin as in traditional acupuncture. This is acupuncture "without the puncture". Only gentle low-intensity laser light is applied to acupuncture points to promote a natural healing response.

How The Kitchener-Waterloo Laser For Addiction Program Works...

Treating addiction begins with a strong desire for change.

Add laser therapy plus some simple ground rules then, increase your chances of moving past your addiction or old lifestyle habits with:

  • Reduction in cravings, withdrawal & detoxification symptoms
  • No extra pharmaceuticals
  • Results usually in 1-2 treatments

PLEASE NOTE: The purpose of the Laser Therapy For Addiction & Lifestyle Change Program is to positively effect physical imbalances as it pertains to brain chemistry associated with addiction & difficult lifestyle changes. Dave does NOT provide mental health or professional drug counseling services.

About Addiction...

Addiction can be defined as the uncontrolled, compulsive use of a substance, person, thought or behaviour for the purpose of changing a person's emotional state, regardless of any potential consequences, which they fail to admit to. The condition is rooted in the interaction of environment with genetically predisposed imbalances in brain chemistry; addiction is a symptom of this interaction. Addiction is not caused by one's environment nor is it caused by genetic predisposition; it results from a combination of the two.

Dave's Approach To Helping You With Addiction & Lifestyle Changes...

Most important is your motivation to quit your addiction and make a positive lifestyle change. Subsequently, Dave uses low intensity laser therapy to treat auricular (ear) and acupuncture points on the head, hands, wrists, ankles and feet that can help people break and move past the physiological addiction to many different drugs and behaviours.

By using laser therapy, Dave by-passes the traditional way to treat acupuncture points using needles. Low intensity laser is a non-invasive, safe and pain-free option to stimulate acupuncture points.

How Many Treatments Does It Take To Become Addiction Free ?

Due to the individual and unique withdrawal symptoms of various addictive substances, behaviours and lifestyles, how people respond to treatment varies and there is absolutely no guarantee of success.

With this being said, Dave uses a similar approach in treating addiction as his very successful Laser Stop Smoking Program. While many clients quit smoking (nicotine) in as little as 1-2 treatments, serious addictions outside of nicotine will likely require more treatments. After the initial treatment of the program is completed, the client decides themselves how many more "booster" treatments they may require in order to maximize long term results. One "booster" treatment is included with the program fee (usable for 2 weeks after initial treatment, 4 weeks for VIP program).

Do I Need Drug Counseling Or Professional Mental Health Support ?

Due to the subjective nature and unique withdrawal symptoms of various addictive substances, behaviours and lifestyles, the process of recovery varies for every person. To increase your chances of long-term success, Dave strongly recommends that for especially challenging addictions, some type of professional mental health support and/or drug counseling be sought in combination with his laser treatments.

The reality is some people feel too embarrassed to seek out the support they might need from mental health therapists or drug counselors. Or they have tried this route, and it has not met with long lasting success so they want to try a new approach. Still others may be concerned about certain legal consequences and no matter what still choose to not pursue addiction counseling.

Given this situation, Dave feels there is need for his services that may help certain people regardless of whether they complement professional mental health therapy or drug counseling services with laser treatments  or not. To help determine good “fit” for his services, Dave engages with potential clients through an email consultation. Please keep in mind, not everyone is a good fit for his program. The reasons can be varied and Dave ultimately reserves the right to accept or deny a potential candidate entry to his program.

Do I Quit "Cold Turkey" ?

It is really up to the client to decide how to reduce use of their addictive substance or participation in their addictive behaviour. In addition to using laser to help clients cope with the physiological symptoms of addiction, Dave will provide some very basic habit change recommendations. However, his treatments and recommendations are not to be considered professional drug counseling advice or mental health support.

If a client is seeking professional mental health therapy and/or drug counseling services in conjunction with his services, they should work with this professional to develop and implement an appropriate course of action.

With this all being said, some clients respond very strongly to treatment and after their initial treatment and booster are able to quickly reduce use of an addictive substance/behaviour. Others decide to gradually reduce their use over the course of a longer treatment program. A small percentage of people simply do not respond strongly to laser and discontinue treatments.

What Happens Before My First Treatment ?

After you have scheduled your initial appointment and completed the 50% deposit via PayPal, Dave will email you a list of consultation questions. Your answers will help Dave to tailor his treatment program to your unique needs. He will follow-up via email with some habit change recommendations and some extra information that will help you prepare before your first treatment.

What To Expect During Your First Treatment

When you come for your initial treatment for the Laser Therapy For Addiction & Lifestyle Change Program with Dave Hanemaayer at his Kitchener clinic, you will relax by lying down on a comfortable massage table while listening to relaxing music. Dave will explain the procedure to you and ask you to wear protective eyewear. Up to 12 individual laser diodes will be simultaneously applied to various "acutherapy" points on the wrist, arms, feet and lower legs. Ear and face points are stimulated with other laser therapy diodes. You may feel a slight warm or tingling sensation through your body. As the points are stimulated with the laser light, your body may begin to release endorphins and other powerful neuro-chemicals which promote a pleasant sense of relaxation.

What To Expect After Your First Treatment

After your first Kitchener-Waterloo laser therapy treatment for addiction & lifestyle change you will likely feel relaxed and calm. Best of all, your cravings may already start to diminish.

Please note there is no guarantee of results with these treatments but many clients report a short term reprieve from their cravings in as little as 1-2 treatments. For some, this can take a longer or require 3+ treatments until tangible, more positive and longer lasting results are realized.

Every individual must negotiate to the best of their ability the withdrawal and lifestyle change process. However for many, Dave's laser therapy treatments for addiction & lifestyle change can prove to be a very beneficial tool to assist in the withdrawal and detoxification process. Ultimately the goal of these treatments is to assist in making the withdrawal/detoxification process more tolerable, less challenging, and easier to manage.

Benefits Of Laser For Addiction

There are numerous benefits of using laser therapy to help in the process of treating addiction and making positive lifestyle changes with Dave Hanemaayer, Certified Laser Therapist:

  • REDUCED Withdrawal & Detoxification Symptoms - laser therapy can reduce the intensity of cravings, irritability, sweating, insomnia, mild depression, agitation, anger and other common symptoms associated with withdrawal and detoxification.
  • Painless – though the treatments are based on theories of acupuncture, no needles are used to pierce the skin or tissues. Only gentle, low-intensity laser is applied over acupoints.
  • Safe - Any serious contraindication(s) to treatment, risks or side effects are addressed beforehand with each client to facilitate informed consent. Unlike most pharmaceutical solutions and other therapeutic options (like acupuncture needles), laser therapy is non-toxic and non-invasive.
  • Limited Risk Of Weight Gain - Your laser treatment can include using appetite suppression points to discourage your desire for food as a substitute.
  • Reduced Stress Levels - laser therapy usually improves mood, reduces feelings of anxiety, depression and other negative emotional factors that affect a person’s stress levels. Most leave their treatment with a general sense of well being.
  • Team Approach - while Dave's laser treatments for addiction and lifestyle can prove to be a valuable tool for the withdrawal and detoxification process, results are optimized when clients combine laser therapy with professional counseling. Since Dave does not provide any drug counseling or mental health support outside of his laser services, he generally advises clients to continue or start at any time professional counseling while using his laser therapy services.

How Does Laser Help Me Quit Addictions ?

Based on auricular therapy, low intensity laser is applied to specific body and ear acupuncture points in order to stimulate the pleasure centers of the brain. This process promotes a strong release of neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins. Endorphins are the body's natural painkillers - they can suppress pain and withdrawal cravings plus help to keep your mind/emotions calm and relaxed. This also aids and supports better quality sleep.

The release of these "happy hormones" help to replace the hormone release people would otherwise experience through an addiction. The goal is to provide a more natural short or medium term "crutch" to support your brain and nervous system while it adapts to a more healthier, independent and natural hormone state ("homeostasis"). Best of all, this process is designed to help you achieve this new balance more naturally.

Technical jargon aside, the end goal is to reduce withdrawal, cravings, and aid your body's detoxification process - giving you a potentially stronger and more natural edge over many other addiction treatment options.

How Effective Is Laser For Addiction ?

Despite what the skeptics say, there is strong clinical support and some scientific evidence for the use of auricular therapy and acupuncture for the purposes of drug withdrawal.

For example, one comparative study states auricular acupuncture plays a therapeutic role for methamphetamine withdrawal syndrome. Here is a link to that study:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24843957

Is Laser Therapy Safe ?

Any potential contraindications to treatment, risks or side effects are addressed during the email consultation process to facilitate informed consent. Unlike most pharmaceutical solutions and other therapeutic options (such as needle acupuncture), laser therapy is non-toxic, drug-free and non-invasive.

Are There Side Effects ?

No serious side effects has ever been documented using laser therapy. Minor side effects that include increased fatigue can be interpreted as positive since people often report better quality sleep. Most are surprised at how relaxed and "more themselves" that they feel at the end of treatments.

Is Laser Therapy Painful ?

No. Most patients describe the treatment as extremely relaxing and pleasant. Many feel light pressure, tingling or a relaxing "heaviness" in their limbs. Some even doze or even fall asleep during treatment.

How Much Does The Program Cost ?

The Kitchener-Waterloo Laser Therapy For Addiction & Lifestyle Change Program costs $250 (including HST). This entitles patients to an inital treatment plus an optional "booster" treatments (usable within 2 weeks of the initial treatment, 4 weeks for the VIP Program).

Can You Charge Laser For Addiction As Massage Therapy ?

Dave DOES NOT bill Laser For Addiction & Lifestyle Change as massage therapy for the purposes of insurance coverage. These treatments are offered separate and individual from Dave's massage therapy practice.

Your Program Investment Includes

  • Initial laser treatment
  • Optional "booster" treatment
  • Laser Dave's Guide To Addiction

When Is The Best Time To Book ?

When you want to quit your addiction. Often, there is never a "perfect" time to quit an addiction as it is easy to come up with excuses to put off your desire to quit. This is the nature of addiction. With this being said, Dave will evaluate and assess your individual situation based on the email consultation for the Kitchener-Waterloo Laser Therapy For Addiction & Lifestyle Change Program.

Still Not Sure What To Do ?

Whether you are addicted to alcohol, street drugs like cocaine, marijuana, pain killers, gambling, nail-biting or even technology (Facebook, video games, smartphone, etc.), the physiology and brain chemistry behind addiction is often similar regardless of what the substance and/or behaviour someone may be addicted to. This is why laser therapy for addiction can be a very effective treatment or adjunct treatment option for different addictions.

Withdrawal can be very difficult to overcome on your own or even with the most proficient and professional counseling or therapy. However, with the advancement of laser therapy withdrawal symptoms can in many cases be reduced or minimized.

Similarly, a big life style change like separating or divorcing from a long time relationship, changing jobs, having your first child, looking after an aging parent, etc. can be extremely stressful and a challenge to cope with as well. Laser therapy essentially promotes more "plasticity" in the brain and has been noted by many to help them not to just cope but thrive with intense lifestyle changes.

Laser therapy for Addiction & Lifestyle Change is a viable and more natural alternative to pharmaceuticals that often carry a host of potential negative side effects and in some cases long term dependency.
