Lazer Dave uses multiple laser devices in his treatments that promote strong results.

No needles pierce the skin as in traditional acupuncture. This is acupuncture "without the puncture". Only gentle low-intensity laser light is applied to acupuncture points to promote a natural healing response. Laser light is not only more comfortable then traditional needle acupuncture, but in Dave's clinical experience more effective as well.

Auricular laser therapy is a needle and pain free method of stimulating ear acupuncture points for addictions (like nicotine, sugar, caffeine, drugs, etc.), fertility, pain and stress.

About Stress

Stress can be divided into two categories, healthy and unhealthy. Healthy stress can be identified as stress that increases the body’s ability to perform well under short or medium term pressure. Examples of healthy stress include reacting quickly in dangerous situations, working towards a deadline, heightened awareness when driving, playing sports, taking a test or exam and speaking public.

Unhealthy stress is prolonged in nature. Some symptoms of unhealthy stress:

  • Muscle tension, headaches, neck and back pain.
  • Digestive issues such as diarrhea, indigestion, IBS, etc.
  • Fatigue.
  • Heart palpitations, shortness of breath.
  • Increased or decreased blood pressure, dizziness.
  • Decreased immune system, frequent colds or illness.

  • Excessive fear, restlessness, and worry (panic attacks).
  • High levels of anxiety even when resting or relaxing.
  • Inability to concentrate.
  • Insomnia or excessive sleep.
  • Anger or aggression.
  • Indifference or apathy.
  • Irritability, moodiness, involuntary crying.
  • Pessimism.
  • Depression.

Stress raises your levels of adrenaline and cortisol. These stress hormones promote what is called the “flight or fight” response in your body. This state causes an increased heart rate, respiration, and high blood pressure. These increases make bodily organs work harder. Over prolonged periods, unhealthy stress exhausts your adrenal glands and suppresses your immune system function. Reducing unhealthy stress is critical to combating such illnesses as heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, and even arthritis. There are thousands of research articles on the connection between chronic stress and disease. It is estimated that 70-80% of all visits to physicians are for stress related illnesses.

Most people know that the best way to reduce stress is to live an active and healthy lifestyle. Eating a well balanced diet, getting enough sleep and regular exercise are some of the main ways to do this. However, these activities require a regular investment of time, money and energy that can be challenging with busy schedules. In response to elevated stress levels, most people have developed chronically tight muscles in the back and neck. This is where Dave can help.

Lazer Dave's Approach Using Laser Acupuncture...

Dave believes the answer to reducing unhealthy stress when you need a quick and healthy solution involves two-stages. First, relieve the symptoms of unhealthy stress through massage therapy in order to foster a temporary oasis of calm and relaxation. Second, take advantage of this window of opportunity to make positive and long lasting lifestyle changes.

By combining his knowledge in massage therapy, medical acupuncture and laser therapy - Dave offers a specialized and effective solution to treating stress in the Kitchener-Waterloo area.

Benefits Of Laser Acupuncture To Reduce Stress...

There are six main benefits of using laser acupuncture in a massage treatment to reduce stress with Dave Hanemaayer, in Kitchener-Waterloo:

  • Painless – though laser acupuncture technique is based on theories of modern medical acupuncture, no needles are used. Only low intensity laser.

  • Safe - Any contraindications to treatment, risks or side effects are discussed individually with each patient to facilitate informed consent. Unlike most pharmaceutical solutions and other therapeutic options, laser acupuncture therapy is non-toxic and non-invasive.

  • Reduces Stress - laser acupuncture usually boosts the effects of traditional hands-on massage by improving mood, reducing feelings of anxiety, depression and other negative emotional factors that affect a person’s stress levels. Most leave treatment with a general sense of well-being.

  • Reduced Dependency On Medication - many pharmaceuticals options for stress, depression and anxiety may come with a host of undesirable side effects (weight gain, headaches, sleep disruption, nausea, digestive issues, reduced libido, agitation, etc.). Though laser acupuncture can help reduce your dependency on such medications, consultation with a physician is ALWAYS recommended FIRST before making any changes in this regard.

  • Symptom Relief – Stiff neck, tight back muscles, and headaches are just some of the physical symptoms of stress that may be relieved by massage therapy utilizing laser acupuncture.

  • COMBINES WELL WITH HANDS-ON MASSAGE TECHNIQUES - Laser acupuncture usually makes deep tissue massage techniques like muscle stripping and pressure point release less uncomfortable. Also, laser typically reduces inflammation quickly - this tends to lessen post massage soreness the day after deep tissue treatment. Lastly, many report they need less massage sessions overall in managing their stress when laser acupuncture is used in their massage sessions.

How Does Laser Acupuncture Reduce Stress ?

Based on medical acupuncture, Dave targets key acupuncture points on the ear (also known as auricular therapy), arms, hands and lower legs. Using painless, low intensity laser - he stimulates these acupoints in order to release neurotransmitters in the brain such as dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins. This technique stimulates the pleasure centres of the brain, promoting what is known as the “rest and digest” state (opposite to “fight or flight”).

During treatment, many experience a wave of relaxation wash over them. Upon completion, most report feeling extremely calm and an increased sense of well-being. In many cases, people sleep extremely well the night of treatment. This is a welcome reprieve from unhealthy stressors related to work, relationships or everyday life.

How Effective Is Laser Acupuncture For Reducing Stress ?

Treatment results can not be guaranteed as every individual responds a little differently. There are various studies published from Japan, Germany, Sweden and China showing a decrease in the stress response of recipients following acupuncture for stress. Also, there are over 5,000+ scientific studies proving laser therapy efficacy for multitudes of soft tissue pain and injury.

How Fast Can I Expect Results With A Massage Treatment Utilizing Laser Acupuncture ?

Results cannot be guaranteed as every individual person responds a little differently. However, most people begin to respond positively during treatment while others need 6 – 24 hours to experience the peak short-term effect.

An individualized treatment plan will be proposed to help treat your stress levels. Typically, many people will elect for 3-4 treatments spread out over 3-4 weeks.

Can You Charge Laser Acupuncture As Massage Therapy ?

In addition to using hands-on technique in his massage therapy sessions, Dave incorporates laser acupuncture as well. As a result, these treatments are billed as massage therapy and qualify for workplace insurance coverage.
