Proven Results

Photos above pertain to a documented treatment plan using laser acupuncture for a grade 2 hamstring tear. Results cannot be guaranteed. However, Dave Hanemaayer has a high rate of success using laser acupuncture for pain/injury and laser therapy to quit smoking.

No needles pierce the skin as in traditional acupuncture. This is acupuncture "without the puncture". Only gentle low-intensity laser light is applied to acupuncture points to promote a natural healing response. Laser light is not only more comfortable then traditional needle acupuncture, but in Dave's clinical experience more effective as well.

Auricular laser therapy is a needle and pain free method of stimulating ear acupuncture points for addictions (like nicotine, sugar, caffeine, drugs, etc.), fertility, pain and stress.

How Does Laser Acupuncture Reduce Pain?

It is theorized that the main reason for the reduction in pain from laser is due to the anti-inflammatory effect as increased circulation reduces pressure on nerves. In addition, elevated levels of endorphins (morphine like substances naturally produced by the body) reduce the sensation of pain.

Benefits Of Laser Acupuncture

There are 7 main benefits of using laser acupuncture in your massage treatments with Dave at his home based clinic, 101 Lydia Street, in Kitchener, Ontario:

  • EFFECTIVE - Laser promotes a strong healing response in tissue by reducing inflammation and promoting tissue regeneration. By Dave's estimation, laser acupuncture can provoke a healing response 2-6 TIMES STRONGER than the ability of your body to heal itself. This is advantageous when you need an injury or pain syndrome to get better but can't stop working. There are over 3,000 studies that prove the efficacy of laser for many different types of soft tissue pain and injury.

  • PAIN-FREE TREATMENT – Although treatments are based on theories of modern medical acupuncture, no needles are used to pierce the skin. Only gentle, low intensity laser light is applied over the tissue. Many find treatment so relaxing due to endorphin release they are tempted to fall asleep.

  • SAFE - Any contraindications to treatment, risks or potential side effects are discussed individually with each patient to facilitate informed consent. Unlike most pharmaceutical solutions and other therapeutic options, laser acupuncture is non-toxic and non-invasive.

  • REDUCES PAIN & IMPROVES MOOD - Most patients report a significant reduction in pain after massage treatments using laser. In addition, massage treatments utilizing laser acupuncture often improves mood, reduces feelings of anxiety, depression and other negative emotional factors that can be connected with physical pain.

  • REDUCED DEPENDENCY ON PAIN MEDICATION - Most pharmaceuticals options for pain only temporarily reduce symptoms and do not address underlying causes. In addition, many pharmaceuticals come with a host of undesirable side effects and can even damage your internal organs with prolonged use. Though laser can reduce your dependency on such medications, consultation with a physician is ALWAYS recommended before making any changes in this regard.

  • COMBINES WELL WITH HANDS-ON MASSAGE TECHNIQUES - Laser acupuncture usually makes deep tissue massage techniques like myofascial release or soft tissue release less uncomfortable. Also, laser typically reduces inflammation quickly - this tends to lessen post massage soreness the day after deep tissue treatment. Lastly, many report they need less massage sessions overall in managing their pain syndromes when laser acupuncture is used in their massage sessions.

  • TEAM APPROACH - Laser acupuncture is a perfect adjunct to other therapies you may already be receiving. If you are pleased with your current chiropractor, physiotherapist, naturopath, osteopath, etc. then Dave will encourage you to keep up those treatments. If you need further assistance outside his services, Dave can refer you to the appropriate health care professional at Target Therapeutics.

Dave’s Approach To Reducing Pain Using Laser Acupuncture...

Dave believes the answer to reducing pain when you are looking for a natural and healthy solution involves two-stages. First, relieve the symptoms of pain while also promoting a healing response through laser acupuncture and any other techniques Dave utilizes in a massage treatment. Secondly, identify the underlying cause of your pain. If your condition has already been diagnosed - Dave can work along with other treatment plans you already may be pursuing to augment your results (such as chiropractic, physiotherapy, osteopathy, etc.). The wonderful thing about laser acupuncture is that it is non-invasive and can augment almost any other therapy you may already be pursuing.

What To Expect On Your First Treatment Utilizing Laser Acupuncture...

When you come for your first massage treatment utilizing laser acupuncture for pain and healing with Dave Hanemaayer RMT at his home based clinic, 101 Lydia Street, in Kitchener, Dave will complete a health history assessment and thorough investigation of your acute or chronic pain. Part of this clinical assessment will likely include rating your pain on a scale of 1-10.

Next, Dave will explain the proposed massage treatment to you, and offer you an opportunity to ask any remaining questions. Dave will then request that you get comfortable by lying down on a massage table while listening to relaxing music. Most patients find a massage treatment utilizing laser acupuncture relaxing and non-invasive.

What to Expect After Your Massage Treatment Utilizing Laser Acupuncture For Pain...

After treatment, you will be asked to re-assess your pain levels, range of motion, etc. In addition, different strategies, stretches, and/or strengthening exercises may be discussed to enhance the results of your treatment plan. Underlying causes and changes may be addressed so that the chances of the original trauma/injury from re-occurring will be minimized. If your case is especially challenging, Dave may also suggest co-treatment with Kevin Kelly, Physiotherapist, at Target Therapeutics (only 3 blocks from his clinic).
